Initially just 105.40-sq-kms in area, Bandhavgarh           enq
with 25 resident TIGERS was noted for its high-density tiger population. Today, it has been extended to an area of 437-sq-kms and the tiger population has increased to 62. About half the Bandhavgarh Park is covered with fine trees of Sal, while mixed forests are found in the higher reaches of the hills. Stretches of bamboo and grasslands extend to the north making it an ideal habitat for the animals surviving in the park. The main wildlife viewing is still done in the core of the park with its 32 picturesque, wooded hills. The national park has varied flora with a major potion covered with the below mentioned trees and herbs.

The vegetation along streams and marshes at                 enq Bandhavgarh national park is rich in bird life. The common ones are Little Grebe, Egret, lesser Adjutant Sarus Crane, Black Ibis, Lesser Whistling Teal, White-eyed Buzzard, Black Kite, Crested Serpent Eagle, Black Vulture, Egyptian Vulture, Common Peafowl, Red Jungle Fowl, Dove, Parakeets, Kingfishers and Indian Rollers. Reptilian Fauna at Bandhavgarh national park include Cobra, Krait, Viper, Rat-snake, and Python, Turtle and a number of lizard varieties, including Varanus.

    Safaris in Bandhavgarh

Safaris in bandhavgarh are done by jeep                 enq and elephant. Jeep safaris are the ones which can be booked in advance in the three zones of Bandhavgarh national park. There are tiger shows conducted in the bandhavgarh national park, which are only conducted if the mahouts sitting on the elephant back are able to trace a male tiger. Cubs and females are generally not troubled with the disturbance created with the tiger show.

    Best Time to visit Bandhavgarh

The best time to visit the Bandhavgarh national park       enq keeping all aspects in mind, is between October and March but it is the warmer months of April, May and June that are best for tiger and leopard sightings. During the summer months, most of the animals are seen around the few precious water bodies not yet vaporized by the intense heat.
